First, I want to thank you for trying the shareware version of MERLIN.
Jim Seymour, columnist with PC Magazine says, "...MERLIN is near the
top of my list of personal favorites". MERLIN has also received the
"****" four star rating of Public Brand Software, their highest rating.

See the MERLIN.NEW file for a complete list of new upgrades. MERLIN's
windfield feature offers you an approximation of where the "edge" of
the storm is - ie. how far tropical storm force winds extend outward
from the storm's center (in miles).

Tropical Storm/Hurricane data can be received with hourly updates from
weather radios sold at any Radio Shack. Although the updates are
hourly, hurricane information changes typically two times per day,
with more frequent updates if the U.S. coast is threatened. I've
found these reports to be a good source for MERLIN data, and general
information on the storm, as perceived by the National Weather Service.
Usually, wind field information is provided for tropical storms and
hurricanes. The World Wide Web (Internet) is also a valuable source
for storm information - try the WeatherNET home page, one of the best.

At this point, I want to CAUTION you - No person or computer program,
not even MERLIN, can predict the future. ALWAYS pay close attention
to the progress of an approching storm, and heed the warnings of local
authorities in your area. If they say to evacuate, DO IT! The Twelve
Hour Projection is the most recent trend of the storm extended 12
hours into the future. There is NO guarantee that the most recent
trend will continue.
